Norwich City have confirmed that a period of applause will take place before their Championship fixture against Sunderland to commemorate former chairman Robert Chase.
The applause will be observed ahead of Sunday’s 12pm kick-off time, and the Canaries’ players will wear black armbands throughout the match.
News of Chase’s death at the age of 84 broke on Monday, due to a short illness.
He joined the City board in 1982 and became chairman three years later. During his time at the helm he oversaw one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, as they finished third in the Premier League and qualified for European competition, beating Bayern Munich at the Olympic Stadium.
He was inducted into City’s hall of fame in 2003, after leaving Carrow Road in April 1996.
In a statement, the club said: "Norwich City are deeply saddened to learn of the death of former club chairman Robert Chase.
"All at the club would like to pass on their deepest condolences to Robert's family and friends at this sad time."
