Norwich City director Mark Attanasio was in attendance for Saturday's thrilling 4-4 draw with Southampton at St Mary's.

The American, who has a minority stakeholding in the Canaries, attended just his second game since formalising his relationship with the club last year.

Attanasio's previous appearance at a Norwich game came last November at Carrow Road when they were beaten 2-1 by Middlesbrough. Before officially coming on board, he and a seven-strong party attended their final Premier League game of the 2021/22 campaign against Tottenham.

Perhaps, given his attendance, it was fitting that City took the lead courtesy of compatriot Josh Sargent inside the first 10 minutes on Saturday. Adam Armstrong's late spot-kick prevented them recording a successive Championship victory.

Attanasio watched on alongside City's majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones. Zoe Webber, Neil Adams and Bryan Gunn were also located in the directors' box.

His son Mike and wife Deborah were sat alongside him - with it understood they flew to England following a holiday to Italy earlier last week.

The Milwaukee Brewers owner purchased Michael Foulger's shares, along with a series of others, in September last year and is in the process of increasing his stakeholding in the club through newly created shares.

Webber gave an update on that at the fans forum event earlier this summer, explaining the hold-up was expected and not a concern - but due to the red tape of the football club being a public limited company.

Attanasio's purchase of the 194,512 newly created shares is coming to a conclusion via a further general meeting to formally allot the shares. His presence at St Mary's is another sign there is still a strong desire to ramp up his involvement in Norwich over the coming period.

Supporters await official news of the conclusion of a lengthy process - but excitement remains over his involvement at Carrow Road. The American has been a vocal and strong presence in board meetings in recent months.

Attanasio was seen taking photos and videos of City's 2,000-strong away end ahead of kick-off as he soaked in his surroundings on the south coast.

Despite not witnessing Norwich record three points, they return Stateside feeling more enthused about their relationship with the club than ever.
