Bournemouth are poised to sign Max Aarons after hijacking Leeds United's move for Norwich City's right back.
The Premier League club have swooped at the 11th hour and are on course to add Aarons to their squad.
Aarons had been in Leeds and was set for a medical with the Yorkshire club before Bournemouth agreed a deal with Norwich.
Another Championship club, thought to be Southampton, also matched Leeds' offer for the right-back - but the allure of the Premier League has proven too strong for Aarons to turn down.
Aarons looked on course for a reunion with Daniel Farke at Elland Road in a deal that could have risen to £12m including add-ons, but that is now off.
Bournemouth are set to sign Aarons on similar terms that would have seen him move to Leeds. The two offers from the south coast clubs came after the Whites' bid.
The right-back was omitted from Norwich's opening game of the Championship campaign against Hull after returning to their camp late due to his involvement in England U21s successful Euros.
The groundwork for Aaron's' departure had been laid by sporting director Stuart Webber earlier this summer who commented that the defender had 'outgrown' the club and 'needed a move'.
Norwich could have sold Aarons for a lower fee earlier in the window but opted to wait it out in the hope their valuation would be met.
That has been proven accurate - with Bournemouth meeting their asking price.
The decision to join Bournemouth serves as a major blow to Farke, who was desperate to add the right-back to his squad this summer following a spate of injuries.
Aarons will work with new Cherries boss Andoni Iraola and is expected to finalise his move to Dean Court in the coming days.
Norwich have signed Jack Stacey, on a free transfer from Bournemouth earlier this summer, and Kellen Fisher from non-league outfit Bromley.
They aren't expected to sign a replacement for Aarons having added the duo to David Wagner's squad earlier this summer.
Aarons is set to City's first major sale of this summer with Andrew Omobamidele and Milot Rashica also expected to depart before the deadline.
