Hull City assistant head coach, Justin Walker, insisted the Tigers got a raw deal in the chain of events that led to Adam Idah’s 96th minute Championship winner for Norwich City.

Walker had to conduct media duties at Carrow Road, after head coach Liam Rosenior was red carded in the aftermath of Idah’s winner for his protests.

The Canaries’ substitute poked home from close range but it took a consultation between the officials, as home players and fans celebrated, before the goal was allowed to stand.

Walker questioned the amount of time added on, whether the original corner should have been awarded that led to Idah’s goal, and if the Irishman was offside when the ball arrived via Sean McLouglin’s deflection.

"Emotionally charged, we're bitterly disappointed by the way the game was managed at the end, and I have to be careful for obvious reasons," said Walker. “There are incidents that probably need looking at more closely, in terms of the new rules. The goal is outside the time we were told we were going to play.

"We were told we were playing five minutes, that was all, and then it went to five minutes 15 by which time the ball had been cleared out of our box, which is a safe place to blow your whistle, right? I think we'd all agree on that. So why he didn't he?

“(Should Norwich have had a corner initially or was the ball out of play?) I believe from what I've seen, the ball is out.

"You have an initial incident that we're talking about, then you have the time period after the game that we're talking about, and if you're not 100pc sure, it's gone to a safe place to blow your whistle.

"The ball's been allowed to be delivered again, and there's another incident that we're talking about and then you're not sure if the player is onside or offside, so how can you give that?

"We're going to have to look back at that, the very fact that the ball is being delivered back into your box is the issue, those other actions and incidents don't get spoken about if you blow the whistle. There's so many various incidents that we're talking about.

“I’m disappointed for everybody but it was a good benchmark for us because they’re a good side. We’ve come away for 48 hours to prepare, and the lads invested a lot of energy into the game.

“We’ll be better in terms of performances as we go through the season but I thought we fully merited a point.”
