David Wagner is not in the market for another wide player after sanctioning Christos Tzolis’ Norwich City exit.
Tzolis is poised to seal a loan move to Bundesliga Two Fortuna Dusseldorf, with a buy option that would recoup City’s initial outlay on the Greek international.
Wagner made it clear, after the 21-year-old was not part of the matchday squad for the Olympiacos pre-season finale, his future might lie away from Carrow Road.
But with Borja Sainz and Christian Fassnacht in the building, the City boss is not looking to bring in more attacking threat, even if Milot Rashica departs before the end of the transfer window.
“I don't like to speak about the club. But I can let you know that Christos has permission to speak to another European club,” said Wagner. “If someone has permission to speak it looks like it's close.
"He needs now a move, or a team where he can start 30 games, and I can't see this happening here.
“I had very clear and honest conversations with Christos, and he didn't play a lot in the last two seasons. But he's a talent and this is why, for his career, it's so important that he finds a club where he maybe can start games.
“If you see in pre-season how Johnny Rowe is a threat, and what Tony Springett has done as well. With Fasnacht we have a different type of winger in our squad as well. He has to settle in, for sure, and he had a very busy period, the last two weeks, when everything is quite new for him.
"Plus Borja, who we have not seen any of but he is only a few weeks away from being back, and this means we have good competitiveness in the wide positions, and this is why I'm more than happy that Christos is speaking to another club.”
Wagner confirmed at Colney on Thursday neither Rashica or Max Aarons are part of his plans for this weekend’s Championship opener against Hull, as they step up their fitness following an extended summer break.
“Nobody knows what happens until the end of the window. At the minute they are our players, if they are our players, when the window closes, I'm more than happy,” he said. “If not, then I can be happy as well, because we were able to sell them for the correct price.
"This is exactly the situation. If we sell it doesn't mean we will do something. No. But this is exactly a situation where I don't like to speak about, but I'm happy with the wide options which we have.
“I will not lie to you. I expect there will be some outs and maybe this means that some players come in as well.
"But this is too early to say. I'm happy with this squad, and if this means we have this squad going into the season, after the transfer window, I'm more than happy.”
