Christian Fassnacht revealed he consulted Timm Klose before sealing a Norwich City move from Swiss champions Young Boys.

Klose remains a fan favourite with the Canaries and had no hesitation in urging the 29-year-old midfielder to follow in his foosteps.

The Swiss international has signed an initial two year deal, with a one year club option, for an undisclosed fee.

Fassnacht travelled to City's Austrian training base on Monday.

Here are the key parts from his first club interview

Timeline

A stressful day on Sunday. I had to travel from Bern to Zurich. Zurich to London, London to Munich and then in the car to the team hotel. We had a lot of phone calls with the coach before. He knows me, I knows him. Everything went pretty fast.

I had training on Saturday morning with Young Boys. In the afternoon I received a call from my agent the clubs had found a solution. Then I had to pack everything, go to the stadium, take my things from there and then a busy travel day.

I was trying to make a move out of Switzerland five years ago. England is the home of football. There could be no better place to make the first step out of Switzerland.

Klose advice

I met Timm (Klose) a few times in the Swiss national team. I have a good relationship with him. I texted him when I got the first offer. He had a lot of good things to say about Norwich. He told me to do it.

Pedigree

Playing Champions League was a childhood dream that came true. To play against the biggest names of football.

But playing in the Euros with the Swiss national team was amazing. We beat France to reach the quarter-final. We made that when everything thought we would not get through.

Young Boys will always have a special place in my heart. To win that first title. It still gives me goosebumps now. It was like a second home. I had a great relationship with the city, the fans and my team mates.
