Norwich City are close to finalising a deal to sign Scotland U17 youth international Gabriel Forsyth from Hamilton Academical.

That's according to Football Insider, who report that the Canaries are putting the final touches on a deal to bring the 16-year-old to the club as part of their youth set-up.

Hamilton would be owed a compensation figure for the highly-rated attacking midfielder should a deal be struck, with his current contract at the Scottish club not set to expire until 2026.

The teenager made five first-team appearances for the Accies this season, with two coming in the Scottish Championship, two in the Challenge Cup and another in the SFA Cup.

Forsyth has spent the last few weeks with Scotland's U17s at the European Championships in Hungary, playing two of his country's three matches as they finished bottom of Group C after defeats to Germany, France and Portugal.

It's understood City do hold an interest in adding Forsyth to their academy ranks this summer, although Hamilton will only allow him to leave the club if an acceptable offer is made by the Canaries.

Forysth is highly rated by the New Douglas Park side but Hamilton will be forced to sell players following their relegation from the Scottish Championship.

Norwich are also hoping to add experienced defender Shane Duffy to their ranks in due course as they press ahead with their summer recruitment plans.
