Norwich City’s Andrew Omobamidele has been left out of the Republic of Ireland squad for a training camp ahead of upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, because of injury.

The 20-year-old central defender finished the season wearing the captain's armband and played the full 90 minutes when City lost their final game, at home to Blackpool, on May 8, but it is understood the injury is only minor.

Manager Stephen Kenny has named a 22-man squad, which includes Norwich striker Adam Idah, for the four-day training camp in Bristol next week as they prepare for games against Greece on Friday, June 16 in Athens and Gibraltar on Monday, June 19 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

"The six-week break between the end of the Championship and our qualifier in Greece is something we have to navigate and make sure our preparations are planned well," said Kenny.

"This training camp in Bristol for four days is essential before we travel to Turkey on June 5 for nine days ahead of our visit to Athens and we're looking forward to a good four days training and some sharp sessions."
