Mark Attanasio 'means business' at Norwich City, according to outgoing director Michael Foulger.

The American businessman completed his purchase of Foulger's 16pc shareholding back in September and is poised to up his control of the club in the coming weeks by taking up newly created shares.

Foulger, who is departing the City board after over 25 years on the club's board, is set to become an honorary club vice president when he relinquishes his role at the end of the season.

Foulger has backed Attanasio to make his presence felt throughout his time at the club, offering a greater level of security in the process.

‘It’s an interesting scenario. I met up with Mark and it’s hard to judge from meetings, but I thought this guy really means business and wants to be involved," Foulger told City's official channels.

"He had looked at other clubs. Then you see what he did with Milwaukee (Brewers).

"I think Mark’s influence in his time here will give security longer term for the club.

"Hopefully he can do some investment and move the club forward but it’s certainly a good move and I’m really confident that it will be good for the football club.”

Foulger's involvement with Norwich came after getting involved alongside majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones back in 1996.

He has been a long-standing supporter and confidant of the pair on the board and even helped the club purchase Grant Holt back in 2009.

"In 1996 the club was very close to going out of business," Foulger said. "I knew previous people here like Robert Chase and we used to do quite a bit of sponsorship for matches and then it came up that they were looking for people to put an investment in.

"It's now the 27th year of Michael and Delia and I've really enjoyed working with them. Their passion for the club is immense and I think we've only had one little fall out during that time which is great because in football it's so easy to have different opinions and go separate ways. I wish them all the best as they carry on."
