It was love at first sight for Marcelino Nunez and Norwich City.
The 22-year-old opted to swap the home comforts of Chile for Carrow Road last summer after making a £3.3 million move to England.
Nunez's arrival marked the stepping up of City's South American scouting that has also brought Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara to Norfolk from Sao Paulo.
Norwich invested more resources in the region after sensing an opportunity upon the change of regulations caused by Brexit. It has yielded success with both additions so far, with the feeling that there is still more to come from their South American duo.
Nunez decided to leave Chile to try and progress his career in Europe, with playing in the Premier League a personal aspiration. Norwich are still hoping they can end the current campaign in celebration via the play-offs.
Since he arrived from Chile, life hasn't been plain sailing for the midfielder who is still adapting to life in England and is yet to fully learn the language.
David Wagner has reiterated how highly he rates Nunez in various press conferences since joining the club. City's boss has reinstated him into the side since replacing Dean Smith at the helm in January.
Finding a level of consistent performance is the next challenge for the Chilean international.
Nunez has revealed how a conversation with Stuart Webber in Brazil convinced him to join City last year.
"The sporting director showed me the facilities on video in Brazil," Nunez told City's official channels.
"That opportunity arose with my representative. We saw it as super exciting.
"The sporting director Stuart (Webber) also spoke to me after a Copa Sudamericana match in Brazil for Catolica and showed me all the facilities. I loved it; I fell in love.
"My biggest goal with the club is to qualify for the Premier League."
Overcoming the language barrier remains a work in progress for Nunez.
Norwich hired translator Alan Rosling last summer to aid both Nunez' and Sara's transition to life in Norfolk.
Nunez undertakes two lessons per week in an attempt to improve his English.
"I have made progress in the classes," Nunez said. "I understand my team-mates a lot more now."
