Norwich City academy goalkeeper Archie Mair has signed for National League leaders Notts County on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old joins the fifth tier side after previous loanee Brad Young returned to Leicester City due to injury. He'll provide competition for first choice keeper Sam Slocombe, who has played 27 league games this season.
Mair, who has National League experience with King's Lynn Town, joins former Canaries academy goalkeeping coach Tom Weal at Meadow Lane, where he is now first team goalkeeping coach.
Speaking about Mair's acquisition, Weal told County's website: “Archie is a highly-skilled young goalkeeper with a significant amount of experience both in this league and on the international stage.
“He’s a top professional and brings with him a brilliant work-rate and many of the tools we look for in our goalkeepers, which allow them to complement the team’s style of play.
“It’s really important that we brought in the right person to strengthen our goalkeeping department and add to its culture, and I’m delighted Archie has agreed to come on board.
“His arrival means we’re now able to look for the most appropriate loan for Tiernan Brooks to gain more competitive game experience, which is currently vital for his development.”
Mair still has 18 months left on his contract at Norwich, with the option to extend by a further 12 in the summer of 2024. He moved to Carrow Road from Aberdeen in 2019, and has also spent time with Lincoln City and Dartford.
