Norwich City youngster Saxon Earley has completed a permanent move to League One Plymouth Argyle for a fee described as “a lot of money”.

Norfolk born Earley spent the first half of the season on loan at League Two Stevenage, but saw that agreement cut short to complete his move south west, where he'll wear number 24.

During his time with The Boro he made 27 senior appearances, registering two assists and one goal. Stevenage manager Steve Evans confirmed the end of the 19-year-old’s time in Hertfordshire following their 3-1 win over Crawley Town, saying: "He's going to a very, very top end League One club for a lot of money.

"I just said to him in front of the group, he arrived as a kid and leaves a man. He's been absolutely fantastic for us. I hope he plays Championship football next season because he has a job to do (for the club he joins)."

Earley joined the Canaries as an under-9, going on to captain both their under-18 and under-23 sides. He turned professional in 2021 and signed a one-year contract extension in February 2022, and departs without having made a senior appearance in yellow and green.

He made 44 appearances for Norwich across under-18 and under-23 levels, making two assists.

Argyle manager Steven Schumacher told official club channels of the signing: “We are really pleased that Saxon has joined us at Plymouth Argyle.

“He is another exciting young player that we have added to our squad that will improve our strength in depth.

“He is a player with huge potential. He is eager to learn and to develop his game, and hopefully he will enjoy working with us all at Argyle.

“Saxon has enjoyed a really successful loan spell at the top of League Two with Stevenage in the first half of this season, and we think he is ready for the step up to show what he can do in League One."
