Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean has admitted that the Canaries haven't been at their best this season, but insists the correct attitude remains to achieve promotion.

The Canaries are currently fifth in the Championship table with just 32 points from 21 games, having been tipped as early favourites for automatic promotion.

McLean knows this isn't good enough, but is determined to turn things around at Carrow Road. "We've not been doing as much as we should be on the pitch." he said, being interviewed by club captain Grant Hanley. "We should have more points than what we've got when you look at our squad. That's down to us. We need to take responsibility for that."

The winter World Cup has led to the suspension of second tier English football across parts of November and December, with Norwich going without playing for four weeks.

The Scottish international and his team-mates are currently in the midst of a warm weather training camp in the US, as they prepare to relaunch their league campaign against Swansea City on 10 December.

He told official club channels of the trip: "It's been hard work. It's good, we've come out here for a week and it's pretty chilled. The gaffer spoke to us before training yesterday and spoke about the last couple of weeks not being good enough, so we're going to be working when we're here, that's for sure.

"But obviously when you're out and about you can chill a wee bit, but when we're on the pitch we need to start upping our game.

"Out here the mood's still good. Everybody's still pulling in the same direction, everybody wants the same success, everybody wants the same thing. Everybody's still coming together. We're going to work hard, but we'll enjoy each other's company in that, and we'll get a tighter group.

"When we go back we know it's business again, and we need to start getting results. That's what it's down to really."
