Norwich City will be promoted to the Premier League as runners-up after it was confirmed Queens Park Rangers would not face a points deduction.

There had been speculation the London club, who had won the Championship title could be hit with a points deduction for breaching rules regarding the registration of midfielder Alejandro Faurlin.

Had Neil Warnock's team been stripped of points, it could have propelled Norwich City into first place, but the Football Association today confirmed QPR were champions.

The club were found guilty of two of the seven charges they faced over the registration of Argentinian midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, but will not be docked points.

They had been charged with breaching strict third-party ownership rules over the transfer of Faurlin from Instituto in 2009.

The Loftus Road side denied all seven of the charges facing them at the hearing by four-man independent regulatory tribunal, which started on Tuesday.

While the decision was initially scheduled to be confirmed yesterday, the FA postponed the announcement until today, the final day of the season.

An FA statement read: 'The Regulatory Commission hearing charges brought by The FA against Queens Park Rangers FC wish to announce that although two of the charges have been found to be proved there will be no points deduction made from Queens Park Rangers FC in this season or the next.'

The trophy was due to be presented to QPR at the end of their clash with Leeds today.
