More than 300 police officers will be on hand at Portman Road tonight for the big match.

Suffolk police have appealed to both sets of fans to enjoy the crucial Championship clash but to behave respectfully and responsibly.

The policing operation will involve officers from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, and the British Transport Police.

Proactive enforcement will include the use of 'direction to leave' notices.

This power allows officers to serve a notice on any person they feel may cause alcohol-related violence.

The person can be banned from a venue or even the whole town for up to 48 hours, and if they refuse to leave the area or return during this time they can be arrested. Police horses from Essex, and police dogs from Suffolk and Norfolk will join officers on patrol, providing a high visibility presence and dealing with any disorder.

Supporters travelling to the game are warned to be prepared for crowd and traffic congestion and disruption as police tactics may result in some minor delays and may restrict movement around the ground.

The turnstiles and stadium bars will be open from 6.15pm and kick off is at 7.45pm.

The main road outside the stadium will be inaccessible to home fans and the public for a short time after the game to allow Norwich fans to be escorted to their transport.
