Supporters of Scottish champions Celtic are in Norwich ahead of the Adam Drury testimonial game tonight.

Fans began arriving at Carrow Road on the overnight supporters' buses early this morning, before making their way into the city to enjoy the summer weather.

They have been gathering at pubs along Riverside and Prince of Wales Road ahead of tonight's 7.45pm kick-off.

Alasdair Peat, manager of the Queen of the Iceni on Riverside, where both fans have been sitting in the sunshine, said the day had so far passed off without serious incident at the pub.

'We had a couple of guys taking a dip in the river at about 9am this morning, but that was after they'd spent about nine hours on a bus.

'They weren't the first to go in, and I doubt they'll be the last. Apart from that it has been good-natured, and we've not had any serious problems.'

Celtic season ticket-holders Devin Bryson, 17, Chester Elliott, 21, and Stephen Connolly, 32, boarded the bus in Glasgow at midnight and arrived at 9am, but said the long journey was worth it to see their former hero Paul Lambert again.

'We're here for the party,' said Mr Elliott. 'I remember Lambert scoring against Rangers in a 2-0 win when he was playing for us. He was a great player, and a Celtic legend. He'll get a good reception from the Celtic fans tonight.'

His friend Mr Bryson was in positive mood for this evening's match, predicting a 2-0 win for Celtic.

'We had a full bus on the way down, and there will be about 3,000 of us there tonight, so it'll be a brilliant atmosphere.'

Another group of Celtic fans arrived early at the Compleat Angler pub on Prince of Wales Road to take advantage of some Norwich hospitality.

John McGuinness, 55, said: 'I've not been in Norwich for years, but it's a good city. I support Celtic everywhere, home and away, so it's nice to be here in Norwich and that the sun is shining.'

He said he hoped Norwich boss Lambert would making an appearance in the match, adding: 'We've made the effort to travel down, so he should pull on his boots one more time.'

But friend and fellow fan Siobhan Ross, 23, disagreed. 'He's quite a serious character, so it doesn't seem like he'd get in the spirit of things like that. There's more chance of Neil Lennon doing it I think. I'd like to see the two of them playing again.'
