A Norwich City football fan, who was arrested at his team's successful play-off final match at Wembley Stadium for holding a lighted flare outside, is fighting the charge.
Marc Howard, 25, of Briar Court, Guardian Road, Norwich appeared at Hendon Magistrates Court on Monday and was bailed to appear for trial at Brent Magistrates Court on September 2.
He pleaded not guilty to throwing or casting a firework in a public place, namely outside the stadium on May 25.
Howard says he was handed the flare by another male and it was lit when in his possession, but he denies throwing it.
Norwich City beat Middlesbrough 2-0 and were promoted to the Premier League.
