Swansea City head coach Luke Williams had a fantastic time as a Norwich City schoolboy, but knows his side are in for a tough test when they visit Carrow Road.

The London native spent four years in Norfolk at the start of his footballing career before leaving due to injury issues that never truly resolved themselves.

He impressed as a coach at Swindon, MK Dons and Swansea amongst others, however, before returning to management with Notts County in 2022.

He returned to South Wales 18 months later and has put a good run of form together going into the trip to Norwich, a club he looks back fondly on his time at.

"On my 12th birthday I signed for Norwich as a schoolboy and I was there for four years," he recalled. "It was an incredible club, really ahead of its time in those days.

"I think they finished second in the Premier League (sic), and Jeremy Goss scored an incredible volley against Bayern Munich, I still remember.

"Of course, Lee Power was a member of the first team in those days and later became my boss at Swindon.

"I have a lot of ties there and it's a brilliant club, it really is a really brilliant football club."

The Canaries are in good shape as they look to secure their place in the Championship play-offs, but Williams says that suits his side down to the ground.

"It's perfect for us, because we want to be in a game," he continued. "The opposition are going to be trying to make sure they secure a play-off position and that suits us well.

"We know we're playing against really very, very good opposition. It's going to be really tough, because they're going to have full motivation at home and they're in really good form as well.

"We're quite clear that we know the challenge is going to be very tough, and we have to keep trying to improve our performances, as I've been saying.

"I think we're getting somewhere for sure, and now it's going to be a bigger test than we've faced probably for a few weeks now.
