Norwich City loan export Tony Springett will miss out on the chance to face the Canaries' local rivals Ipswich with an ankle injury.

The Irish youth international joined the Rams temporarily in January, having struggled to break into City's senior team in the first half of the season.

He's made 11 appearances for the League One side, but will be denied his 12th for an estimated two to three weeks after an injury sustained in a challenge with Derby defender Eiran Cashin.

Rams manager Paul Warne told the Derby Telegraph of the injury: "Tony Springett damaged his ankle in a challenge with Cash in training on Tuesday.

"He will be out for two to three weeks, although that is just a guess. He is having a scan today - I will know a bit more after that. It's sad for the kid and I am disappointed for him."

There remains a yellow and green flavour to the East Midlands side, with Warne a Norwich fan and former Diss Town player.

He's hoping to guide Derby back to the Championship at the first time of asking, having taken over from Liam Rosenior midway through the season.

They're currently sixth in the third division table, with Ipswich third and 11 points ahead of them.
