League One has been a major learning experience for Norwich City loan export Tony Springett - and he is loving every second.

The winger joined the promotion-chasers on a season-long loan in January and has impressed Derby boss Paul Warne, who has been a fan of Springett's work ethic and energy in training and matches.

Despite only starting two matches since his temporary move to Pride Park, Springett is enjoying the experience of League One football compared to development matches played in training grounds.

"The massive difference is the physicality of it, the pitches and the crowds," Springett said.

"When I came on in the Premier League and the Championship before I came here, everything is put together and worked through whereas here you can go one nil up against a team and they throw all tactics out of the window and they come all guns blazing.

"Other than that, it’s just football. When you get past that, you see the game in a bigger picture. A lot of people say that League One and the Championship are nothing compared to the Premier League but I think it depends on how you look at it.

"You’re going to come up against teams in the Premier League, like Manchester City, where you don’t see any of the ball and you’re trying to gun them down but when you come up against a lower league side they have a League One mentality where it becomes a battle to get the points.”

Prior to completing his move to Derby, Springett sought the council of his teammates at Norwich to gauge opinions on what is it like as an experience.

"I spoke to a lot of the senior lads and some of the younger lads about how they found going out on loan," he said.

"Everyone has a different opinion on it so I feel like everyone gave me something different.

"In my mind I had all the different ways that it could go. For me, I have nothing to complain about. I didn't get on today, but I'm sure he will have a pretty good reason as to why I didn't get on."
