Marcelino Nunez was the pick of six Norwich City players in international action this weekend, playing 72 minutes of Chile's 3-0 win over Albania.

The Canaries midfielder flew to Italy for a friendly meeting at the home of Serie A side Parma, starting in a midfield three as La Roja ramped up their preparations for this summer's Copa America.

Eduardo Vargas opened the scoring 19 minutes in, with Marcos Bolados and Victor Davila adding to the margin of victory after Nunez was replaced by Cesar Perez.

Ricardo Gareca's side travel to France next, taking on the World Cup finalists at Marseille's Orange Velodrome on Tuesday night.

City loan export Adam Idah was in action on Saturday, coming on for Brighton's Evan Ferguson for the final 24 minutes of the Republic of Ireland's 0-0 draw with Belgium.

Ferguson missed a penalty in an otherwise uneventful game, although the Boys in Green will hope to take some momentum into their clash with Switzerland in midweek.

Northampton Town loanee Tony Springett was also part of the Irish national setup, but featured for their under-21s.

He missed the Cobblers' 1-0 win over former side Derby County to play in a 7-0 under-21 Euro qualification win over San Marino, starting on the right wing before being replaced by Armstrong Okoflex after 66 minutes.

Strikes from Okoflex, Andrew Moran, Rocco Vata (3) and QPR's Sinclair Armstrong combined with Giacomo Benvenuti's own goal for an impressive win at the San Marino Stadium, with the qualification campaign set to resume in September.

Promising centre-back Jonathan Tomkinson also featured for his youth national team, coming on 75 minutes into the USA's 3-0 defeat of Guinea.

Angus Gunn and Kenny McLean were the only Norwich players to experience international defeat over the weekend, unable to prevent Scotland's 4-0 loss to the Netherlands as they gear up for this summer's Euros in Germany.
